Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Denesh Ramdin put on a 50-run stand for the fifth wicket in the morning session of Day four of the Khulna Test against Bangladesh as they took West Indies past 600.
Resuming from an overnight score of 564 for four, Chanderpaul (143*) and Ramdin looked solid from the word go until the latter was caught behind off the bowling of Shakib Al Hasan with Bangladesh at 621 for five. Wickets fell in quick succession as Shakib got rid of Darren Sammy for a duck just three deliveries later .The West Indian captain was undecided whether to go for a big shot or just defend it and ended up giving an edge which hit the keeper and flew straight into Mahmudullah's hands at first slip.
Shakib struck for the third time on Day Four as he dismissed Veerasammy Permaul (13) who drove down the ground to give an easy catch to short cover leaving West Indies at 639 for seven.
Hasan wasn't done yet as he sent back new man Sunil Narine off the very next ball to end the first session of the fourth day's play on a hattrick.
Brief Scores: Bangladesh 387 (Abul Hasan 113, Mahmudullah 76; Fidel Edwards 6 for 90, Darren Sammy 3 for 74) trail West Indies 639 for 8 (Marlon Samuels 260, Shivnarine Chanderpaul 143*, Darren Bravo 127; Shakib Al Hasan 4 for 146) by 252 runs.
