Bangladesh lose five in second innings at Tea

Bangladesh lose five in second innings at Tea

Bangladesh are in deep trouble after losing five quick wickets in the second innings of the Test match against West Indies at Khulna.

In the post-luch session, West Indies declared at 648 for nine after Shivnarine Chanderpaul completed an unbeaten 150.

Bangladesh openers, Tamim Iqbal and Nazimuddin walked out to bat with their side trailing by 261 runs and staring at a possible innings defeat. Fidel Edwards struck in the very first over to dismiss Nazimuddin for golden duck as he trapped the latter in front of the stumps with a ball that was angling in to the right hander but still would have hit the leg stump.

Shahriar Nafees walked in to join Iqbal and the duo began to score some quick runs before Tino Best bowled a ripper-of-a-delivery to clean up Iqbal, leaving Bangladesh at 49 for two.

From hereon it was all down hill for the homeside, as Naeem Islam too was clean bowled by Tino Best ,a delivery that squared Naeem up and did enough to clip the bail on the off-stump.

Best was unstoppable as he got rid of Shahriar Nafees with a nasty bouncer. Nafees was caught midway as he tried to duck and the ball went off his gloves to slips.

Slow left-arm bowler Veerasaamy Permaul then picked up captain Mushfiqur Rahim. Rahim went down the track to hit one out of the park, but missed the ball completely which went onto crash into his stumps to leave his side reeling at 85 for five at Tea.

Earlier, in the first session,  Chanderpaul and Denesh Ramdin put on a 50-run stand for the fifth wicket.

Resuming from an overnight score of 564 for four, Chanderpaul (150*) and Ramdin looked solid from the word go.

Brief Scores:  Bangladesh 387 and 85 for 5 (Abul Hasan 113, Mahmudullah 76; Tino Best 3 for 11, Fidel Edwards 1 for 28) trail West Indies 648/9 dec. (Marlon Samuels 260, Shivnarine Chanderpaul 150*, Darren Bravo 127; Shakib Al Hasan 4 for 151) by 176 runs.
