South Africa restrict England to modest score in fifth ODI

Disciplined effort by bowlers saw South Africa restrict England to 182 in 45.2 overs in the fifth and the final ODI at Trent Bridge on Wednesday.

Alastair Cook top-scored with 51, while Craig Kieswetter and Chris Woakes contributed with 33 each, as other batsmen struggled to make an impact.

Rabin Peterson bagged three wickets while Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel picked up two wickets each.

England, electing to bat after winning the toss, got off the shaky start losing to quick wickets.

Cook and Jonny Bairstow put on a 53-run stand as they looked to rebuild the England innings.

But once Bairstow was back in the hut, South Africa clawed back to have the hosts reeling at 99 for five.

Kieswetter and Woakes looked to take the attack to the Proteas with a steady partnership, but just when the duo looked to stabilise the England innings, Morne Morkel stuck to dismiss the former.
