ICC World T20 2012: Ashwin, Harbhajan give India the edge, feels Muralitharan

Australian pacer Pat Cummins has begun mind games ahead of team's Super Eight clash against India on Friday in Colombo by warning the sub-continent team of dealing with barrage of short balls in the World T20 match.

Cummins said, “A few of them aren’t too fond of the short ball. We will try and rough up a few feathers. You know, (Suresh) Raina and (Gautam) Gambhir and a few of those guys, they are never comfortable with the short ball and we are probably gonna dig in a couple of them. Hopefully that pays off.”

The Australian pacer admitted that the champions of the inaugural T20 World Cup are a strong side to beat in the shortest format of the game.

He was quoted by The Hindu as saying, “Pretty funny, the other night they (India) did not play with their full strength side (against England) so I guess you never know what is going to come your way.

“They are world class players and everyone has got a lot of experience due to the IPL. They have all sorts of players. Yeah we will go a bit harder and probably everything pays off and here we go.”

Cummins feels against India, the key would be to nullify the tweakers and according to him, Australia has a plan for the Indian spinners.

He said, “If we can nullify the key spinners that will go a long way in winning the tie, we have done that before, you know (David) Warner, Watto (Shane Watson) and (Michael) Hussey have been brilliant. It’s like playing any other bowler, it is about turning the strike and one or two good overs and anything is possible.”
