South Africa take slender lead as rain washes out fourth day's play

The fourth day of the second Test between England and South Africa has been called off as heavy rains interrupted play in the second session at Headingley on Sunday.


South Africa reached 39 without loss of any wicket on fourth day with a slender lead of 33 runs with captain Graeme Smith and Jacques Rudolph unbeaten on 17 and 21 runs respectively.

Earlier, Matt Prior hit a fluent half-century as England gained a six-run first innings lead on the fourth day of the second Test against South Africa at Headingley on Sunday.

Prior hit 68 off 89 balls before England were bowled out for 425 shortly before lunch.

Brief Score: South Africa 419 & 39 for 0 (Jacques Rudolph 21*, Graeme Smith 17*) lead England 425 (Kevin Pietersen 149*, Matt Prior 68; Imran Tahir 3 for 92) by 33 runs.
