Rohit Sharma believes criticism will only make him stronger

India middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma on Saturday said the criticism he has received after the poor tour of Sri Lanka will only make him stronger.

Rohit failed terribly despite given all five matches in the five-match One-Day International series on the recently-concluded tour, scoring mere 13 runs at an average of just 2.60, as India completed a 4-1 series win.

“Tough series for me, but I honestly appreciate the support I got from the people during this rough patch, people u stood for me...” Rohit wrote on social networking site Twitter.

He added, “People who spoke for me don't get me wrong I also thank people who had criticised me cause that is only going to make me stronger..cheers.”

The 25- year old received backing from former cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar, who said the youngster needed to transform his potential into runs to cement his place in the national team.

"There is no doubt Rohit has tremendous potential but he has to score runs. He has to transform his potential into performance which is not happening," said Vengsarkar, who is known to be a stern supporter of the 25-year-old Mumbai right-hander.

"He is a fine player and there is no question about his abilities but he has failed for too long," added the former chief selector.
